Kathy Stepien, MD, Director of Physician Wellness
Dr. Stepien is a board-certified Pediatrician in active practice, and the director of The Institute for Physician Wellness. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2007. Prior to entering medicine, she practiced physical therapy for many years. She holds a graduate degree in Philosophy where she focused on applied ethics.
Dr. Stepien is a certified life coach who trained with The Life Coach School. She Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC.) Dr. Stepien lives in Juneau, AK where you might find her out hiking with her 2 teenage sons.

Katie Townes, DO
Dr. Katie Townes is a neonatologist, life coach, entrepreneur, and physician wellness leader in her institution and region. She is the founder of Physicians’ Lounge Online; a company focused on building community and physician well-being. As the “Call Coach,” Dr. Townes serves physicians struggling with burnout, particularly from on-call shifts. Her passion is to decrease physicians’ suffering by creating community, mindfulness, and education.
